Welcome to Ácsteszér Guide ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our hiking guide application for the Ácsteszér and Bakonyalja region in Hungary.
2. Information We Collect

- Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. You may also sign in with Apple or Google, in which case we receive your name and email from those providers.
- Location Data: With your permission, we access your device's GPS location to provide trail navigation, show your position on maps, and trigger point-of-interest notifications. Location data is processed locally on your device and is not stored on our servers beyond the current session.
- Usage Data: We collect information about trails completed, points of interest visited, achievements earned, and general app usage to provide gamification features and personalized experiences.
- Device Information: We collect a unique device identifier to sync your progress across sessions. On mobile devices, we may collect push notification tokens to send you trail reminders.
- Camera Data: If you use the Nature Observation feature, camera images are processed to identify species. Images are sent to our AI service for analysis but are not permanently stored on our servers.
- Chat Data: Messages sent to the AI Assistant are processed to provide helpful responses about the region. Chat history is stored on our servers linked to your device identifier.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Providing trail navigation and GPS-based features
- Tracking your hiking progress, achievements, and experience points
- Delivering personalized content in your preferred language (Hungarian, English, or German)
- Sending push notifications about trail updates and streak reminders (with your consent)
- Identifying plant and animal species through the Nature Observation feature
- Powering the AI Assistant to answer questions about the Bakonyalja region
- Improving the App through anonymous usage analytics
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- OpenAI: Chat messages and camera images are sent to OpenAI's API for AI Assistant responses, species identification, and audio narration generation. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to this processing.
- Cloud Storage: Audio files and app assets are stored on Google Cloud Storage.
- Push Notification Services: Expo's push notification service is used to deliver notifications to your device.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing (bcrypt), and JWT-based authentication tokens. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and review the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time through the App settings
- Deny or revoke location and camera permissions through your device settings
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may clear your local data through the App settings at any time. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the App or by other means.
